IATSS Forum 30th Anniversary Ceremony Finished Successfully

The IATSS Forum began with an encounter between Mr. Soichiro Honda and Dr. Mahathir bin Mohamad. The first Forum took place in 1985 based on their idea of bringing young leaders from ASEAN countries together and having them undertaken purpose-driven leadership development in Japan.
Despite numerous difficulties and challenges, the IATSS forum has continuously conducted various projects both in Japan and overseas, and remarkably reached its 30th Anniversary last year.  The commemorative ceremony for its 30th Anniversary was held at the Suzuka Circuit Hotel on the 14th of November, 2015.

It was a rainy day, however, about 220 people, including the guests from overseas, attended and cerebrated our 30th anniversary together. Taking this opportunity, we would like to express our sincere gratitude to the lecturers, volunteers and many others who have supported the Forum’s activities through these long years.

After the ceremony, a commemorative speech was delivered by Professor Robert Campbell from the University of Tokyo, on the topic of “A WORLD OF HUMAN CHEMESTORY”. It was a good opportunity for about 480 attendees to think to create a society where diverse values are accepted and individuals’ differences are respected.

For the next ten years, the IATSS Forum will continue to foster future leaders capable of addressing global and complex issues by making effective use of not only human and financial resources and information, but also innovative wisdom and regional resources to improve sustainability and human security around the world. Furthermore, in order to realize our goal of achieving sustainable society, the IATSS Forum will also strengthen not only the bond among the nearly 1000 members of IATSS Forum Alumni, but also the collaboration among its country committees and secretariats of nine ASEAN countries and the IATSS.
